Blacksburg Minors beat Pulaski East 14-3 to advance to Championship

In what started as a pitchers duel between both team's aces, later turned into a one sided affair with Blacksburg beating Pulaski East 14-3.

Neither team would score in the first two innings, with the Bruins striking out 4 times and Pulaski 3 times. 

In the top of the 3rd, Blacksburg broke open the game scoring six runs.  Matt Freel singled, Christian Vance drew a walk, and Colin Collver was hit by a pitch to load the bases.   Luke Goforth hit a ball up the middle to drive in the first run of the game.  Then, Ben Freel hit a looping drive that was misplayed by the Pulaski right fielder, resulting in three runs.  Cole Epperley then singled, driving in Freel.  

Starting pitcher Grant Johnston struck out the side in the 3rd.  In three innings, Johnston struck out seven of nine batters.  

In the top of the 4th, Blacksburg would add 5 more runs.  Craig Weaver led off with a single, Luke Goforth and Ben Freel both walked to load he bases.  Cole Epperley then singled, driving in Weaver.  Davis Roberson drew a walk to load the bases again.  A couple Pulaski throwing errors on FCs pushed across two more runs.  Jacob Lucas doubled and drove in the 5th run.

In the bottom of the 4th, Pulaski scored three runs to make the score 11-3.

In the top of the 5th, Blacksburg added three more runs.  Cordell Croy was hit by a pitch and stole 2nd.  Ben Freel singled and drove in Croy.  Davis Roberson doubled to drive in Freel.  Roberson went to 3rd on a passed ball and a throwing error by the catcher (to 3rd) resulted in Roberson taking home for a final score of 14-3.

Offensively, Blacksburg was led by Ben Freel and Cole Epperely who both had with two singles.  Jacob Lucas and Grant Johnston doubled, while Craig Weaver and Matt Freel singled.

With the win, Blacksburg advances to the Championship game against Christiansburg.  The Blue Demons must beat Blacksburg twice to win the tournament.
