Seb Cianelli and Jared Madigan 1 hit Cougars

The Blacksburg O-Zone team rebounded from their tough loss last night to beat Pulaski 10-0 in five innings.   Seb Cianelli and Jared Madigan combined to hold the Cougars to just one hit.

In the bottom of the first, Blacksburg would score two runs to jump out to a 2-0 lead.  Cianelli had a lead off double, followed by a RBI double by Jake Verniel, and then Madigan had RbI double.

In the second inning, Blake Davis and Justin Snyder singled while Tiquest Terry drew a walk, but the Bruins couldn't push a run across.

Both teams were scoreless in the 3rd inning as well.   In the top of the 3rd, Blacksburg picked up a key defensive double play.  A ball was hit hard to Roberson, who tagged 3rd for a force out, and then threw to first for the DP.

In the bottom of the 4th, Blacksburg broke the game open, scoring 6 runs.  Verniel had a single, Andrew Roberson had a RBI double, Ryan Anderson drew a walk, Madigan had a RBI single, Hunter Radford drew a walk, Blake Davis hit a 2 RBI single, and Justin Snyder followed with a 2 RBI single.

Pulaski got a runner aboard in the top of the 5th, but he was picked off @ 2nd base by Madigan, ending any potential threat.

In the bottom half of the inning, Jake Verniel led off with a double to the gap, and then Andrew Roberson hit a walk off 2 run HR to end the game.

Offensively, Blacksburg was led by Jake Verniel who was 3/3 with 2 doubles, a single and two runs scored.  Other multi hit players were:  Andrew Roberson with a HR and a double (2 runs scored and 3 RBI), Jared Madigan with a double and a single (1 run and 1 RBI), Blake Davis with two singles (1 run and 2 RBI), and Justin Snyder with 2 singles and 2 RBIs.

Montgomery County beat Christiansburg 19-4, thus leaving three teams with one loss.  In a draw between Christiansburg, Mont Co, and Blacksburg, Christiansburg drew the bye, and now Blacksburg will play Montgomery County @ 6pm on Wednesday night.  The winner of Wednesday night's game will face Christiansburg for the tournament championship.  However, according to Dixie rules, because there are three teams with one loss and one gets a bye via luck of the draw, two teams are now "tournament runner ups" and will receive trophies.
