The 2011 Blacksburg Minors opened up the District Tournament with a 13-7 win over Pulaski East. The Bruins didn't waste any time getting started, scoring two runs in the first inning, to go ahead 2-0. Luke Goforth got things started with a lead off single, while Ben Freel and Davis Roberson walked. Luke scored on a passed ball while Ben stole home.
In the 2nd inning, Grant Johnston and Matt Freel drew walks and Grant scored on a passed ball to put Blacksburg up 3-0.
In the 3rd inning, Collin Collver was hit by a pitch and then Goforth singled. Both players moved themselve around and scored on passed balls.
In the 4th inning, Wesley McCoy led off with a single, went to 2nd on a passed ball, and Jacob Lucas had a sac bunt to move him to 3rd. Craig Weaver hit a ball hard, causing a Pulaski error, scoring McCoy.
In the 5th, Ben Freel and Cole Epperely singled, then Davis Roberson walked to load the bases. Freel stole home and Epperely scored on a passed ball, putting Blacksburg up 8-0.
In the 6th, Grant Johnston singled, followed by Weaver and Cordell Croy walks to load the bases. Ben Freel hit into a FC and a couple throwing errors by Pulaski enabled the Bruins to score 4 more runs.
Pulaski picked up 2 runs in the bottom of the 6th to make the final score 12-2.
Grant Johnston, Cordell Croy, and Luke Goforth each pitched two innings for the Bruins.
