Blacksburg beats rival Christiansburg 4-3

Game halted early by storm

John Hamborsky led off the game with a triple and later scored on a wild pitch to give the Bruins a 1-0 lead.  Christiansburg tied the score in the bottom of the inning after singles by John Early and Justin Bowler and a throwing error.

Christiansburg took a 2-1 lead in the 2nd after Jordan Poff reached on an infield error, moved to second on a passed ball and scored on a two out single by John Early. Blacksburg tied the score in the top of the 4th on a solo home run by Camden Croy.

Christiansburg took a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the 4th after Joh Early reached on an infield error, moved to second on a passed ball and scored on a two out single by Justin Bowler.

Blacksburg took the lead in the top of the 5th on a single by John Hamborsky and a two out, 2 rbi home run by Ben Fraley to make the score 4-3.  Christiansburg was retired in order in the bottom of the 5th.  In the 6th storms moved in and the game was called.

The game was a great pitching match up between Ben Fraley (Bruins) and John Early (Demons).  Fraley was the winning pitcher, striking out 10, walking one, scattering 6 hits and allowing no earned runs.  Early took the loss in a solid outing, striking out 8, walking one, and giving up 3 earned runs.

John Hamborsky and Ben Fraley had two hits each for the Bruins.  John Early and Justin Bowler had two hits each for the Demons.
