Hidden Valley battles BHS 5-3 in District win

Ben Fraley and Cory Smith were locked into a pitcher’s duel through 5 innings with HV holding a 1-0 lead.  HV broke through for 3 runs in the top of the sixth with the key hit being a 2 rbi double by Nik Retiff to give HV a 4 run lead.  Alex Shimozono came in relief to get out of a one out bases loaded jam with no further damage.

BHS battled back with 2 runs in the bottom of the sixth to close the gap to 4-2.  John Hamborsky hit a one out single and Camden Croy followed with a double.  Ben Fraley singled to score pinch runner Alex Wong and Croy scored on a wild pitch.  Owen Ball  and Tyler Barry walked to load the bases but were stranded.

HV scored an unearned run in the top of the 7th to take a 5-2 lead.  

In the bottom of the 7thwith one, out Alex Shimozono walked and was forced out at second on a grounder FC by John Hamborsky.  Camden Croy walked and Ben Fraley reached on an error scoring Hamborsky to make it 5-3.  With the tying runs on the game ended on a fly ball to center.

Ben Fraley and John Hamborsky had 2 hits each for the Bruins

HV is now 6-1 and 2-0 in district play while BHS is 3-5 and 0-1 in the River Ridge.
