Patrick Springs, Patrick County, Virginia - The Blacksburg Baseball Association's Minors All-Star Team, coached by Mike Wolfert, Chris Wise, and Mike Barry, won the District 3 Dixie Youth All-Star Tournament held in Patrick County, VA. The Blacksburg team played 6 games in 6 days winning their final five games in row. After losing to Christiansburg 10-8 in their opening game, Blacksburg beat Pulaski West 7-0, Pulaski East 23-2, Patrick County 5-2, Patrick County again 9-2, and Christiansburg 13-6 in the tournament finals. Todd Dunbar threw a no-hitter in the 5-2 win to beat the last undefeated team in the tournament, Patrick County. He pitched a complete game (6 innings) and struck out 11 Patrick County All-Stars. Because three teams (Patrick, Blacksburg, and Christiansburg) all had one loss, there was a draw to see who received the bye for the remaining set of games. The bye was drawn by Christiansburg. Thus, Blacksburg and Patrick had to play again. Blacksburg defeated Patrick County 9-2. Blacksburg then faced Christiansburg in the final. In the championship game, Todd Dunbar pitched 3 innings and Aiden Ball pitched 3 innings in relief. Lead off batter Michael Wolfert, Jr., went 3 for 5 scoring 3 runs, and had 5 stolen bases. Aiden Ball was 2 for 4 and Colin Ball was 2 for 3. Alex Shimozono was 2 for 4 and had 3 RBI. Todd Dunbar and Tyler Barry had 2 RBI each.
