The Salem Spartans visited Blacksburg for the final JV game of the season.  Michael Olszewski took the mound for Blacksburg and he held Salem scoreless for the first three innings.  Blacksburg did not score either in the first three innings.  Seb Cianelli singled in the bottom of the 1st, but was stranded.  Blacksburg was retired in consecutive order in the bottom of the 2nd and in the 3rd, Hunter Radford hit a double, while Cianelli had his second hit of the game, a single to left field.  But both runners were stranded after back-to-back fly outs.

Salem scored the first run of the game in the top of the 4th.  A lead off single put a runner on base and after a Olszewski strike out, a second single gave Salem two base runners.  Olszewski forced a ground out for the second out of the inning, but then a runner reached base on an infield error, which allowed Salem to score the unearned run.  Olszewski came right back and struck out the next batter for the 4th out of the inning.

The Spartans added a run in the top of the 5th to extend their lead to 2-0.  A single started the inning for Salem and then a runner reached base via an infield error to put two runners on base with no outs. A second single scored a run for the Spartans.  Another runner reached base via an error to load the bases for Salem. Olszewski fought back to force a infield fly ball, struck out the next batter, and then forced a line out to get the team out of the bases loaded jam.  Despite giving Salem five outs in the inning, Olszewski held them to just one run.

In the bottom of the 5th, Justin Snyder singled with one out, but then two fly outs ended the inning for Blacksburg and Snyder was stranded.

Salem extended their lead again in the top of the 6th.  Blacksburg made a pitching change at the beginning of the inning and inserted Billy Quinn into pitch.  He struck out the lead off batter and then the second hitter reached via an infield error.  A walk then put a second Spartan on base.  A single to center field, coupled with an error, scored two runs (4-0) for Salem. Quinn then came back and forced a line out and fly out to end the inning.

The Bruins would fight back in the bottom of the 6th.  With one out, Jack Madigan singled to left field to get things going for Blacksburg.  Andrew Roberson then drew a walk to put a second Bruin on base.  Billy Quinn doubled to center field, scoring Madigan (4-1).  After a Bruin strike out, CJ Linares hit an RBI single, scoring Roberson (4-2).  Justin Snyder then recorded his second hit of the game, a single to score Billy Quinn (4-3).  A line out ended the inning for Blacksburg, but they had fought back to make the contest just a one run game.

Salem notched another run in the top of the 7th.  After a lead off walk and then a single.  An outfield error allowed a run to score (5-3).  Blacksburg recorded a double play on a line drive to 2B and then a force out. Quinn then forced a ground out to end the inning.
