Pulaski West Beat Radford 12-5 in Opening Game of Minors Tournament

10 Hits Highlight Pulaski's Offense in Cougars 1st win ever in a Minors Tournament.


In the opening game of the Dixie Youth Minors District Tournament, Pulaski West beat Radford 12-5.  Pulaski pounded out 10 hits in 6 innings to beat the Bobcats.  

Pulaski wasted little time getting started, scoring 3 runs in the top of the 1st.  Lead off hitter, Logan Burchett drew a walk, stole second base, advanced to 3rd on a WP, and scored on a WP.  Meanwhile, Bubba Clark was hit by a pitch and Alex Parmelee drew a walk to load the bases.  James Jackson drew an RBI walk to score Burchett.  Then Wesley Riddle hit a single to score Clark and Parmelee.

In the bottom of the 1st after one out, Radford's Justic Marshall hit a bomb HR to put the Bobcats on the score board.  Jon Woods followed with a single, but was stranded.  After one complete inning of play, Pulaski West led 3-1.

In the top of the 2nd, Drew Dalton led off by drawing a walk and scored when Logan Burchett hit an RBI single.  Radford failed to score in the bottom half of the inning.

Neither Pulaski or Radford would score in teh 3rd inning.

In the top of the 4th, Pulaski's offense got cranked up and put 7 runs on the board.  Wesley Riddle led off with a single and scored on a RBI double by Moose Bowden.  Drew Dalton followed by drawing a walk, and moved himself around on a WP. An RBI single by Logan Burchett scored Riddle.  Bubba Clark then hit a 2 RBI double, scoring Dalton and Burchett.  Clark moved to 3rd on a Radford throwing error and then scored on a sacrifice RBI by Punky Foster.  Alex Parmelee hit a single and Marty Martin reach via an error.  Both would score on a single by James Jackson.

Radford fought back in the bottom of the 4th, scoring two runs to make the score 11-3 and avoid the slaughter rule.  After an out, Jon Woods hit a single, advanced on a WP, and then scored on an RBI by Nathan Wesley.  Wesley stole 2B, Alex Kanipe reached on cather's inference, and then scored when Brandon Moore reached on an error.

In the top of the 5th after an out, Bubba Clark hit a single, advanced on a WP, and then scored on a RBI single by Punky Foster.  Eliajh Simpson drew a walk, but he and Foster were both stranded.  

Radford continued to fight and scored two more runs in the bottom of the 5th.  After an out, Eli Monday hit a single, moved to 2B on a single by Justice Marshall.  A two RBI single by Jon Wood scored both Monday and Marshall.  

Neither team scored in the 6th.  Moose Bowden drew a walk for Pulaski but was stranded, while Radford was 3 up and 3 down.

Punky Foster was the winning pitcher for Pulaski West.

With the win, Pulaski advances to play Christiansburg @ 6pm on Sunday.  Radford drops to the losers bracket and will face Blacksburg @ 4pm.
